About
Home-cooked meals, delivered fresh to your door
Formby Dining began in a small kitchen on a quiet street, cooking hearty evening meals for two neighbours who could no longer stand over a stove. The word spread, and soon we were preparing a dozen trays a week for families up and down the coast. Today we operate from a licensed commercial kitchen, but the recipes and the approach have not changed: local produce, proper portion sizes, and no shortcuts.
Every meal is cooked in small batches, seasoned as it would be at home, and portioned into recyclable trays with a label that names each dish and lists the allergens. We deliver twice a week across Formby and the villages no more than ten miles out, and our drivers keep the insulated bags close to hand so the food arrives warm or chilled as it should be.
The takeaway here is different from a typical meal prep service: it is not gym-focused or measly. We work with a nutritionist to keep the lighter options healthy, but we also do a proper steak and ale pie with puff pastry, a creamy chicken and tarragon that has been on the menu since day one, and comfort food people actually find comforting.
Several of our customers dine alone, and we find a single portion matters just as carefully sized as a family one. Others ask us to cook for the week on a Sunday, popping six parcels in the fridge to unpack at odd times. We accommodate both because the common thread is tiredness and an honesty about wanting good food without a supermarket marathon.
We take pride in handwritten labels and a cheerful delivery service, but more than that we care about the taste. Anyone can microwave a lasagne; ours has a hand-browned top and the cheese is more than a distant observation. That is Formby Dining – no fuss, little notice required, just good food delivered remembering.
